Circa 1900 Sideboard with Micro Cement Top

For this piece we have taken a circa 1900 sideboard with lots of patina that only years of use can create and added a contemporary work
surface.
The idea is that the top looks like a fine slab of polished concrete.
What we have used is a French process called Beton Cire, where micro
cement is mixed with a resin and sealed. This produces a 5 mm thick
extremely hard wearing worktop.
We are really excited that that this piece of furniture on its own
creates a perfect contrast between old and new, textures, colours and styles.
The backboards have been added and painted to match in with some other restoration.
