Woodworm / woodboring beetle / common furniture beetle.
As all of our furniture has some age to it there may be evidence of old worm. As a rule we re-treat anything that may or may not have worm if there is any evidence. However, it is impossible to be 100 % certain that this treatment is totally effective and Original House takes no responsibility for any damaged caused to furniture supplied or to surrounding furniture or building materials.
New Zinc Tops,
Zinc tops scratch and ware very easily - this all adds to the character of the finish and is really why people chose Zinc tops. It can also move and needs to be treated with care. Do not place next to heat sources such as radiators or place hot objects on top, use matts. Original House will not be liable for natural ware occurring to Zinc tops. Please see this link for more detailed information.
Wood finish / care.
Use a warm, damp and slightly soapy cloth to wipe over. Do not use any spray cleaners as they can damage the protection of the lacquer finish or use wax as a build up can occur and spoil the appearance of the finish. Where furniture is installed on site within two weeks of being finished by us, special care should be taken not to damage the lacquer finish. Lacquer can take several days to be heat-proof and up to two weeks to fully cure. During this time we strongly advise placing hot objects on mats rather than the bare top.
Oiled finishes - these do not provide as much protection as lacquer finishes, nor are they as durable. Particular care should be taken to wipe up spills immediately. If they are not cleaned immediately, a permanent stain can result. If Osmo oil (or similar) has been used and after time the tops feel noticeably dry, apply additional coats.
Cast Iron Radiators;
Each radiator is carefully inspected for
finish quality prior to dispatch, then carefully wrapped. Should your radiator
suffer any damage during positioning then we can supply touch up pots of paint
free of charge.
Full polish and Highlight finished radiators
external surfaces should be kept dry at all times. A light coat of oil will
prevent any surface rust appearing and will need to be reapplied as required. These are not recommended for bathrooms.
Prior to dispatching your radiators we have
assembled and pressure tested each radiator to 12 bar pressure over a 24 hour
period. The normal pressure of a central heating system is 2 – 3 bar of
