Large Beech Drapers Table

Sold

This 1930's drapers table was sourced in Normandy, France.  It was actually in a dressmakers shop - we had to hoover 100's of pins out from between the boards.

Predominantly made from beech with a pine shelf.  We have painted the pine shelf a satin black with floor paint to give some contrast to the otherwise uniform colour.  The top has been lightly sanded and finished with a dead flat varnish to protect the surface from spills and stains.  It does retain some of its patina with a few scratches etc as per its age and use, as do the legs which taper and get darker slightly at the feet.

We also re-glued and doweled all of the joints and it is now very solid.  One of the middle legs is slightly bowed and twisted.  This is just the natural movement of the wood and we would not expect it to move any more - it is very sturdy.  Pictured in the third photo.
