Vintage French Cold Cabinet / Fridge

These vintage cool cupboards or ice chests were popular in the 19th century, before electric fridges were invented.

Food would have been kept cool in the zinc lined interior which would have had a large block of ice in the middle.

Sourced from a boucherie-charcuterie in the Luberon Valley, France.

Lovely condition on the outside with masses of authentic patina to the painted woodwork.  The zinc on the inside is also very authentic - please look closely at the pictures to gather the condition.
