19th Century Oak French Counter

Sold

Looking at the pictures of the top there are several places along the front edge where there are perfect rings in the surface.  This ties into the fact that it was found in a saddlery and we presume these marks are from where the leather workers have been punching holes against the hard oak surface.

It must have been a rather smart saddler to have had quite such an impressive piece of furniture made for their shop.

Wonderful colour and patina to the wood - there is a pine panel at each end - structurally very sturdy with beautifully closing doors and brass fittings.

The oak moulding along the base is new.
