20th Century Terracotta Pot
This Early 20th Century terracotta pot is from a Villa in Alentejo, Portugal.
We believe this was used as a purely decorative item. Over the years it has developed a lovely patina with some moss etc impeded in the clay.
In good condition for its age with 2 small old cracks in the lip which do not extend into the pot. We are often asked if these will be ok outside in the frost. They are around 100 years old so we cannot guarantee them but the terracotta is over 4 cm thick and these have often been outside in the mountains most of their lives. We haven't had any problems with this thus far...
Fantastic planted with a fig tree in a kitchen.
75 cm h x 53 across.
