Glass Factory / Hot Cane Holders
These unusual items were sourced in the Czech Republic. They have come from a glass factory where they were used for cooling glass rods. The cane / glass is heated in the oven and then stretched. These rods are then placed in these holders to cool slowly in an annealing oven. The 'hot rods' burn the wood hence the colour.
Would look awesome mounted either side of a fire place or on or under a hall table
15 cm l x 188 l x 16 w each.
We ran a competition in December to see if anyone could guess what these were for.
There were 2 correct answers.
- Jo Taylor, who is an upholsterer next to me in Perrott's Brooke - came in first and won the Champagne.
- Mark Herdman from Hampshire - came in second place for a bottle of wine.
Thanks for all your other guesses which were mostly very amusing, including Chestnut Shovels !
