Painted French Counter

Circa 1900 we sourced this little counter in the South of France.
Very naturally distressed paint - in fact very little remaining ! The thick black areas are where we have re-painted and waxed it. We have lacquered the original flaky paint to fix it.
Quite a rustic looking piece but all sturdy with a new shelf. The drawers and later pull out shelf all working as expected.
These are great kitchen islands or reception desks.
