Painters Trestle Stools

We brought these fun pine trestles from a dealer in Catalonia, Spain. He brought them from a local paint and decorator. He was using them to make a platform to paint further up the wall.
They are very unusual and would make fantastic stools for a kitchen island. Good and sturdy with plenty of character from the various paint splashes they have received over the years.
Circa 1940's. I was thinking of sanding and sealing the tops / seats to avoid any unpleasant splinters ....
